Naguib Mahfouz-the noble lit.winner Egyptian

Where did you hear of ' Naguib Mahfouz' ? In Deccan Chronicle Sunday, when they interviewed one ' Kusum Sawhney ' ( that was the first time I was listening about her too ! ), Indian author who wrote boldly about a taboo subject like ' incest'.

In that interview, she mentioned a number of authors as favs. There, ' naguib mahfouz' occured. By that name, I thought he' s another Wole Soyanka, an African Arab / Muslim Author. And he turned out to be egyptian ! Born in 1911, he is very much alive, at the ripe old age of 96. He won nobel in 1988. Here's his link in Wiki .

Most of his novels have received 4.5 to 5 star ratings at Amazon. His ' Cairo Trilogy' is his monumental work. 5 star. Here's the amazon link.
